SILVERSMITHING
Séamus Gills work is all about the joy of working directly with the material. All his work is hammered out of a flat sheet of metal using traditional age-old silversmithing skills. He exploits the malleability and the working qualities of the material, stretching and compressing the metal to move it into elegant three dimensional forms. He works in harmony with the natural movement of the material leading to his work being compared to natural forms. He combines the skilful hand of a master craftsman, the eye of a designer and the imagination of an artist.
